What is an industrial chiller?

An industrial chiller is to provide cooling water at a certain temperature, then pumps the water to a device that needs cooling. An industrial chiller has three interrelated systems and four main components. Three systems: the refrigerant circulation system, the water circulation system, and the electrical control system. Four main components: the compressor, the condenser, the evaporator, and the expansion valve.

1. The refrigerant circulation system is the most important one in an industrial chiller and it’s where the refrigerant is circulated. The compressor helps circulate the refrigerant in the system by lowering its pressure in the evaporator (so that it boils and absorbs heat) and then compresses it into high-pressure vapor. The condenser removes the heat added to the refrigerant in the evaporator and transfers the heat to a medium that is lower in temperature, such as water or air. The expansion valve controls the flow of the refrigerant between the condenser and the evaporator and drops the high-pressure refrigerant to low pressure used in the evaporator. The evaporator allows the low-pressure refrigerant to absorb heat to produce cooling water, changing the refrigerant into a low-pressure vapor.

2. The water circulation system mainly contains a water tank and a water pump. The water pump pumps the cooling water (provided by the refrigerant circulation system) to a device that needs cooling.

3. The electrical control system contains a microcomputer that helps monitor the operation of the machine and makes the cooling process intelligent, simple, and safe.
